Welcome to Day 5 of 7 Days of Self-Love. Wow…the week is flying by and I have to admit, it makes me a little sad. I’m really enjoying finding these quotes, breathing as I read them and feeling deep down in my soul what they mean.
This Brené Brown quote says it so well. It makes me reflect on all those Valentine’s Days and Friday and Saturday nights when I longed for a date and wondered what was wrong with me. Nothing was wrong with me. What was wrong was that I didn’t believe in me. I didn’t love me. Sad, but true.
But there was something about sugar that made me feel better. That lit up the pleasure center of my brain. Emotional eating such as this is such a slippery slope. You don’t realize it’s an addiction, but you really need the sugar to survive, day in and day out. I certainly did.
I think back to the nights, after work, when I’d go out of my way to get candy. Or, I would deliberately miss the bus, even though I was so tired, so that I could get my bulk candy for the ride home. Do I sound like an addict?
This is the reason I created 7 Days of Self-Love. Because I had to learn, the hard way through recovering from an eating disorder, how important it is to love oneself. I want to share this important message so that no one else suffers the way I did.
What do you do to show yourself some love?
