Are You Taking Years Off Your Life?

Dr. Oz had a great, informational and educational show yesterday. He went through a “top 7” list of red flags of aging. His facts are based on science, however it is important to keep in mind the details are based on statistics and aren’t 100% conclusive. That being said, I wanted to share some of the information as “food for thought.” I always tell my clients to “listen” to their bodies, because our bodies do speak to us and give us important clues about our health and well-being.

Did you know that your ring finger length could indicate whether or not you are at risk for osteoarthritis? Or that your jeans size could be a warning sign for dementia?

Remember the exercise of balancing books on our head? Dr. Oz did that on the show yesterday and practicing that could add eight years to your life!

I do have a favor to ask of you now. Please go to a mirror and look at your earlobe. Is there a crease in the lobe? If you do see any suspicious creases, perhaps ones you haven’t noticed before, make an appointment to see your doctor. A crease in your earlobe could be a warning sign of heart disease. If you wear earrings, especially heavy ones, be careful not to confuse a “wrinkle” crease with a stretching of your lobe.

I wanted to share this information not to scare you – I wanted to educate you. Many people miss these warnings signs and then suffer needlessly after they develop a condition. If one of these “red flags” is present in your body, it doesn’t necessarily mean you are going to develop a disease, but it is certainly a conversation your body has started with you to say, “please take good care of me.”
