Want to Detox and Don’t Know How?

Have you been thinking about a nourishing cleanse for your body and mind but feel as if you don’t know how? Relax. Cleansing and detoxification programs have become very popular in the past few years and many people are quite comfortable engaging in week- and month-long programs, some even longer. The good news is even beginners can experience powerful, long-lasting results from cleansing programs, and you don’t have to be afraid of foul-tasting supplements or feelings of deprivation.

The first step to a successful cleanse is determining its purpose. Have you been thinking about eliminating sugar from your diet? Meat? Dairy?  Have you been struggling to lose 10 pounds? 15 pounds?  What about journaling – have you been saying want to write about your thoughts and dreams but haven’t committed to doing so?

Secondly, share your intention with those closest to you so you can feel supported.  Let your husband, wife, roommate, friends, etc. know that you are committed to making lifestyle changes. Let them know how important it is to you to look and feel your best every day.

Next, you want to set yourself up for success by creating time in your calendar for a cleanse. This does not mean you have to lock yourself in your home and cease all regular activity. However, this may not be the best time to plan a long-awaited dinner with 15 friends. You don’t necessarily want to find yourself at a table with 14 other people enjoying margaritas and chips while you are taking deep breaths to cleanse your soul. On the other hand, planning a quiet dinner with a loved one at a health-conscious restaurant might be exactly what you need to guide you to a successful cleanse.

If you’ve never done a cleanse, one of the best ways to ensure success is to sign-up with a pro. Though I follow a healthy diet and am committed to a nourishing lifestyle, when I feel the need to re-focus, I register with coaches I know, like and trust for some additional guidance and support. It’s important for me to be a part of a community of people with whom I share a common goal. Interested in a coach’s perspective for your cleanse? Email me and let me know what you need.
